Soothing an Upset Child With Lavender Essential Oil

I was visiting my sister the other day, and we were sitting on the couch talking while her 6-month-old baby was playing on the floor. He’s at the age where he’s learning that he can move around on his own… he’s not quite crawling yet, but can roll all over the room. He loves the freedom and mobility, it’s really cute to watch him roll everywhere!

While we were talking he rolled over and was playing with a few toys by the couch. He stuck his foot under the couch and then tried to roll again, causing his leg to be twisted. He started crying right away (a hurt cry that his mother recognized immediately), we so jumped up and helped him pull his foot out.

He was totally fine, nothing was seriously hurt… but he wasn’t happy! He cried and cried for a moment, and then I thought to grab some essential oils. We pulled out the bottle of lavender, rubbed just a tiny amount on the bottoms of his feet with some coconut oil.

He calmed down within 15 seconds!

It is so wonderful to see how essential oils can be used in situations like this one. It was a very simple remedy, but it worked wonders to calm the nerves of both the baby and his momma. I was glad that we had a bottle of lavender nearby.
With love,

Becki :)
