One of my favorite afternoon pick-me-ups is homemade lemonade. It’s easy to make, tastes delicious, and it’s a great way to hydrate and enjoy an afternoon beverage without drinking soda or other unhealthy, sugar-filled drinks that are so easily available. I usually make enough for 1 glass, although you could increase the ingredients if you want to make a bunch at once.

There are a few benefits to drinking this lemonade:

  • Increased hydration
  • Fresh lemon juice is beneficial for digestion, including blood sugar management and cleansing
  • No sugar!
  • Enjoy the benefits of essential oils while you enjoy your drink

Here’s how I make it:

Step 1: Squeeze an entire lemon into a glass, removing the seeds. I like to use a little citrus hand juicer. Optional: add a freshly squeezed lime as well if you want limeade.

Step 2: Add 5-10 drops of liquid stevia sweetener, depending on how sweet you want it to be. Stevia is awesome, because it doesn’t affect blood sugar levels, and it is a great option if you are looking for a natural sweetener.

Step 3: Add in 3 drops of Wild Orange essential oil. Or experiment with other citrus essential oils such as lime, grapefruit, lemon, etc.

Step 4: Top the glass off with cold water, stir well, and enjoy!
